This wasn't a film about gear. It was about the people who choose to carry it into places where comfort doesn't exist. The equipment is just the means. The story is the reason.
The best stories aren't told. They're lived. We just happened to have cameras rolling when this one unfolded.
We traveled light — two cameras, natural sound, and a single lens kit. The constraint became the style. Without the ability to set up elaborate lighting, we learned to read the weather and work with what the landscape gave us.
The original score was composed and recorded in situ. A single cello played inside a glacial cave, against a cliff face, on a ridgeline at sunrise. The acoustics of each location became part of the composition.
